Motorcycle Ergonomic Conundrum

During the summer, I generally ride wearing fairly thin leather boots. "Beatle boots" or some variation thereof, mostly.

When it's cooler (October or so into March or so), I wear heavier boots. Sometimes combat boots, sometimes hiking boots. They're taller/wider/bulkier.

I went out today, and for some reason I can't even remember, decided to wear my favorite hiking boots.

Getting that taller boot down under the shifter isn't impossible, but it feels like work and takes a little longer. Maybe when I get used to it that will change ...

... but I think I'm going to try something and then, if necessary, buy something.

The "try something" looks easy. The shifter is splined. I should be able to loosen a screw, pull it off, rotate it clockwise a little, put it back on the spline, tightent the screw ... and have the end of the lever be maybe half an inch higher relative to the foot peg.

The "buy something" doesn't look terribly expensive, probably less than $50. There are various shifters that are longer, or that can be adjusted to different angles. I'll only go that way if adjusting the current shifter doesn't work out, though.
