The usual suspects

"[O]ur thoughts are with Britain after today’s multiple Islamic terror attacks ..." -- Little Green Footballs

... and so on, and so forth.

Because, you see, it has to be Them Muslims.

And maybe it is.

Or maybe not.

The "kill'em all, let God sort'em out" end of the blogosphere has opened an instant -- and likely extensive -- line of credit for the website claim of a "shadowy Islamist group" that nobody's heard of before, claiming responsibility for the bombings in the name of "The Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe."

Because it has to be Them Muslims.

And maybe it is.

Or maybe not.

Color me cynical, but it occurs to me that Islamist groups with web sites have claimed "responsibility" for everything from the downing of the of the space shuttle Columbia to the August 14, 2003 blackout that plunged the northeastern United States into darkness. The fact that an Islamist group "claims responsibility" means precisely nothing. As the War Party never tires of reminding us, Islamists lie when they find it beneficial to their cause to do so.

There are any number of organizations with the ability and motive to carry out the attacks which occurred and which have even conducted attacks in the same areas before. The IRA and/or some of its splinter groups, for example. Or any of the EU-based communist, anarchist or anti-globalization groups which have conducted attacks on the continent (and in Britain itself) for decades.

But no, by golly, it has to be Them Muslims.

And maybe it is.

Or maybe not.

I guess we'll find out for sure, eventually.

Or maybe not.
